Egyptian collection of Civiche Raccolte Archeologiche e Numismatiche di Milano
Staue of Amenemhat III
The Egyptian Museum is located in Milan at the Castello Sforzesco, but depends on the direction of Civiche Raccolte Archeologiche e Numismatiche, located at Corso Magenta. The collection was formed by more than 1000 objects, collected in several ways. The most import groups are made by purchases of Giuseppe Acerby for Brera (1830) and materials from the excavations of Achille Vogliano at Madinet Madi and Tebtunis (1934-1937). These two groups have added several private donations and some purchases on the antiquities market. Men like Luigi Vassalli, Antonio Seletti, Morando, Julius Venino, Philip Ala Ponzone, Tere and Michael Bell have contributed to the formation of the collection. For Acerbi, Vassalli and Voglioano see the collectionist cards.
