Canopic jar of Kenenem (no cat. 309)

Canopic jar of Kenenem

The vase has a slender shape and has a lid shaped like the head of a falcon. The lid is relevant because there is agreement between the tutelar genius represented in the lid and the name of the genius mentioned in the inscription. On the body of the vase are engraved four columns of hieroglyphics that contain a formula for protecting the content; the text reads:
"1 - Words said by Qebehsenuf: " I am your protection for the limbs   2 – of Osiris Kenenem, born to Tetherredis,
3 - son of ... ...?. I have come to be
4 - your protection. I will reunite your bones for you. I have picked up your limbs. "
The Barracco Museum has another canopic  jar belonging to the same funerary equipment (cat. no. 35).
