Mummy cat

Mummy cat

The bandaged body of the animal has a conical shape; the mummy is decorated by a succession of diamonds created by the skilful juxtaposition of four layers of bandages highlighted by two colours. Overpainting has been used to express the details : in particular the profiles of the ears have been highlighted by folding the edges of bandages above and drawn in black the snout, the mouth, the ears and eyes. In 2004 a CAT scan was carried out on this mummy that pointed out a violent death of the cat showing a broken skull and a broken jaw.
