Coffin of Tamerimen

The coffin represents the deceased in a traditional way. On the chest there is a broad usekh-collar under wich is represented the goddess Nut, winged and kneeling. Follows the scene of psycostasis: the deceased is accompanied by the god Thot in fron of deities including Ra, Osiris, Isis and Nephtys. The iconography continues with a series of horizontal registers consisting of figuartives scenes framed by columns of hieroglyphs painted in black on white. the arrangement of the hieroglyphic columns alludes to the bendage of the mummy. In the first register is represented the god Sokar in the form of falcon, while in the following register is represented the mummy lying on the bier; above the mummy is represented the solar disk with urei and two udjat-eyes on the sides.  The bottom of the cover is decorated with the representation of the "Fetish of Abydos". The image that decorates the outside of the lower valve is simple, colorfull and symbolic. It represents the djed-pillar "animated" wearing the atef-crown and a skirt with laces; it halso holds the scepter and the scourge as Osiris wishing the deceased the identification with the god and the rebirth to eternal life.
