Small sculpture of a hawk

Small sculpture of a hawk

It is likely that the small statuette of a falcon, in a perched manner, was a symbolic and decorative element placed in a sarcophagus box. There are in fact numerous comparisons of this type placed on the four corner columns and in the centre of a typical convex lid of external sarcophagi boxes of the XXVI dynasty .
The back and tail of the animal are painted a dark red brick; the white head and chest bring into prominence the eye and the characteristic black plumage that surrounds it, from which is the origin of the udjat amulet.
