Ushabti di Neferrenepet

Ushabti di Neferrenepet

A mummiform statuette, an ushabti or "the respondent", according to the sixth chapter of the Book of the Dead, which refers to the possibility of these figurines to become animated and respond to the deceased who he evokes to help him in the hard work that also in the afterlife requires the work of the fields. In fact, the engravings on the arms represent hoes that the figure grips. The decoration of this ushabti is not among the most common and is very rich; in fact under the usekh necklace is represented, as frequently on coffins, the Goddess Nut in the form of kneeling woman who spreads her winged arms to protect the dead. The name contained in the inscription is feminine and means "good year".
