Statuette representing the ba

Statuette representing the ba

The small sculpture represents ba as a bird with human head and has been carved from a single block of wood. Claws are carved from the massive volume of the body:  the head is different and is the only part with accurate detail, especially in the facial features. The wings of the animal are portrayed only by an engraved line.
The smooth wig upon which the sun disk rests falls to the  shoulders and is the connecting element between the head and body. There are vestiges of blue on the wig.
